Public Consultation on the Land Transport Masterplan

2013 will mark five years since the release of the Land Transport Masterplan in 2008. It is timely for us to review and update this Masterplan to address emerging challenges we face, and identify new initiatives to enable us to deliver a transport network that better meets your needs.

What are some of the significant changes we have made over the past few years? On the public transport front, LTA has expanded the rail network with the full opening of the orbital Circle Line, enhancing connectivity and providing an essential connection to the city. To facilitate seamless transfers within the public transport network, we introduced distance fares, took over the role of central bus network planner and also introduced more integrated public transport hubs. On the private transport front, we have continued to expand our road network albeit at a slower pace and invested in technology to optimise road usage; we are also continually refining our road pricing and vehicle ownership policies. Finally, as part of making our land transport system more accessible to the less mobile, we have improved barrier-free access to our bus and rail stations and made more buses wheelchair-accessible.

In the updated Land Transport Masterplan, which we target to release next year, we will build on what we have planned and also map out new initiatives to take us forward for the next 10-15 years of our land transport journey.

As part of this update, LTA would like to invite you to give feedback on the Masterplan. Feedback can be sent to LTA-LTMP@lta.gov.sg. You can also participate in our online surveys and online discussion forums which can be accessed via the hyperlinks below. The feedback channels will be open for your feedback until 30 September 2012. A summary of the feedback received and our responses will be released together with the updated Masterplan.

To show our appreciation for your contribution, you would stand a chance to win one of 30 EZ-Link cards (each worth $10) at the end of the public consultation process. We will contact you via the email address you have used to provide us with feedback via the mailbox, surveys and discussion forums.
